We recap some stories you may have missed including Isai Scheinberg ends the Black Friday saga and a tribute to Mike Sexton.
Battle of Malta Online
It was one of the most popular midstakes festivals on the European calendar but because of the current climate, the Battle of Malta will now take online at GGPoker.
It will take place between November 1 and 22, with a $550 Main Event boasting a $3 million guarantee.
The full schedule will be announced closer to the time. This time around we are sure the dealers won’t be shirtless, but that doesn’t mean the players won’t be sat playing in their underwear.
Time served for Scheinberg
PokerStars founder Isai Scheinberg has walked free from jail and fined $30,000 for his role in the Black Friday scandal.
He pleaded guilty to operating an illegal gambling business after handing himself in to US authorities in March.
He was sentenced to time served and this marks the end of the Black Friday story, as Scheinberg was the final person to face charges in the affair.
The Grand Tour stats
Our friends at PokerStars gave us some very interesting stats about their PKO/Lottery SNG hybrid The Grand Tour this week, which has been running since the end of April.
$33.5 million has been awarded in knockouts since it launched, the biggest single knockout so far being a whopping $149,220 (nearly double the second biggest of $74,880).
Germany has the most Grand Tour wins with almost 11,000 at the time of writing.
Mike Sexton’s Celebration of Life
Last night the World Poker Tour hosted a special live streamed celebration of the life of Mike Sexton, where stars of the game, old and new, came together to share their fondest memories of the game’s greatest ambassador:
