WSOP and GGPoker Partner Up for WSOP Online

There will be no World Series of Poker in Las Vegas this summer, but fans of the series have just received some really good news – the WSOP has become the latest live poker festival to be moved online in the face of the coronavirus crisis.

Under an expanded partnership between the WSOP and online poker network GGPoker, the annual poker series will take place online over two months. This means that for the first time ever international poker players will have the chance to win a coveted WSOP gold bracelet from home.

The WSOP Online is set to kick off on July 1 in the US with the first of 85 gold bracelet events. Initially, the festival will be taking place on the territory of the United States through WSOP Online’s North American poker network (WSOP.com).

In the US, the WSOP accepts players located in Nevada and New Jersey. This means that players willing to participate in what could be this summer’s hottest online festival through the WSOP.com platform should be located in those two states.

WSOP Online’s North American network will schedule one gold bracelet event a day throughout July.

On July 19, official WSOP Online gold bracelet tourneys will begin to run on the GGPoker Network. The international series will run through September 6 and will mark the first time in WSOP’s history that players outside the US have been able to compete for an official WSOP gold bracelet online.

Schedule Yet to Be Unveiled

As mentioned above, the WSOP Online festival will include 85 gold bracelet events. GGPoker said Monday that it would unveil its gold bracelet schedule on a rolling basis. The schedule will offer a wide range of buy-ins and game formats.

The WSOP.com will offer a number of special promotions and incentives to celebrate the first digital edition of its annual poker series. There will be satellites to bracelet events starting as low as $1.

In addition, WSOP.com will offer $100,000 worth of added prize money that would be awarded to top performers across all eligible online bracelets scheduled to take place throughout July.

The annual WSOP takes place from late May through mid-July at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. However, due to the Covid-19 crisis this year, the live poker festival was postponed to an unspecified date later this year.

Commenting on their partnership with GGPoker for the WSOP Online, Ty Stewart, Executive Director of the World Series of Poker, said that “it wouldn’t be Summer without WSOP” and that “while they are thrilled to be reopening their venues and optimistic about future offline events,” they “couldn’t be more excited about deepening our relationship with GGPoker and watching some history unfold online this summer.”

GGPoker Head of Poker Operations Steve Preiss said that they are excited to create gold bracelet events that “the worldwide poker community will embrace.”

GGPoker and the WSOP just wrapped up their joint WSOP Online Circuit Event, which saw an overall series prize pool of more than $134 million that smashed the $100 million in guarantees announced previously. The online poker series drew 485,851 entries.
