GGPoker considering biometric Face ID log-in

Would using your face to sign-in improve the security of online poker? Tell GGPoker what you think.

Would you use Face ID to play poker?

GGPoker are right now doing the most interesting stuff with their new features (including in-client staking, smart HUD, PokerCraft etc) and the best part of all of it is you can see what they are working on. They have a public Trello board revealing the new features they have coming and are considering.

One potential feature currently being discussed (we were a bit late to discover it) and would certainly raise a few eyebrows – biometric Face ID log-in

It has been proposed in poker before, that you have to show your face to sign in. We already have it on our phones and for use with our banking apps, so the technology is there, is the demand?

A move towards more transparent poker

Inevitable or a step too far?

It certainly could help with three problems in poker, account security, multi-accounting and bots. Requiring Face ID would make it near impossible for somebody to log-in as you and go for a joyride with your bankroll. The bigger problem it would help with is multi-accounting, which unfortunately is commonplace and currently in the public eye. It would not stop it entirely, but certainly would make it less likely. Finally, bots by definition do not have a face (but their owner’s do) so it would help there a little too.

GGPoker have already announced high stakes tables would be real name only, which the partypoker network have also embraced. This looks like another step towards making online poker a bit more transparent like live poker is.

It is purely an idea right now and GGPoker want your feedback
