Bayern Munich hopes to continue their relentless march towards an eighth straight Bundesliga title when they host Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday as lofty -280 favorites on Bundesliga Matchday 31. The FCB have not missed a beat since the league resumed play in May following a 10-week pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The club has dominated in five-straight league victories and is now in a position to clinch the Bundesliga crown with a win combined by a loss by Borussia Dortmund in their clash with Fortuna Dusseldorf.

FCB Lighting Up Opponents During Win Streak
The Bayern offense has been dominant since the club’s return to action, scoring 17 times in five straight league wins. That extends an impressive unbeaten streak that started in December, during which the Bavarians have piled up a 15-1-0 win-draw-loss record in league play while tallying an average of 3.44 goals per game.

Polish superstar Robert Lewandowski has led the Bayern attack, scoring five times in the five outings since league action resumes, and lifting his league-leading goal total to 30 on the season. Lewandowski now leads his closest rival, RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner by five goals and sits as a heavy -1800 favorite to close out the season as the Bundesliga’s top goalscorer for a third straight year.
Lewandowski, Müller Sidelined
However, the FCB will be without their biggest star when they hit the pitch for Saturday’s match at Allianz Arena. After taking his fifth yellow card of the season in Bayern’s 4-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, Lewandowski will be unavailable to the club on Saturday and will be joined on the sidelines by the club’s top playmaker Thomas Müller, who also received his fifth yellow card last weekend.

The absence of both Lewandowski and Müller certainly adds value to the UNDER in totals betting, which is pegged at 3.5 in Saturday’s contest. The duo have combined to score over 41% of Bayern’s total goals this season and will be sorely missed against a Gladbach squad that has claimed victory in two of their past three meetings with the FCB.

Gladbach Enjoying Recent Success vs Bayern
The Prussians overcame a second-half deficit to claim a 2-1 victory over the FCB back in December that also marks the last time Bayern suffered a defeat. Gladbach also romped to a 3-0 win in their last visit to Munich in October 2018. But while Bayern have continued their winning ways since returning to play, Gladbach have seen their struggles with consistency continue, and lag as distant +650 underdogs in Saturday’s contest.

Now listed as a +120 longshot to maintain their tenuous grip on fourth place on the Bundesliga table, Gladbach are coming off a disappointing 1-0 loss to a previously struggling Freiburg squad. The club has limped to a middling 2-1-2 record in their five league outings since last month and has particularly struggled on the road, posting just four wins in 12 league outings since October.
Sporadic Offense, Shaky Road Performances Cause for Concern
A failure to generate steady offense has emerged as a major concern for the Prussians, who have potted one or fewer markers in three of their past four matches, and failed to score in each of their past two away contests. That is a particularly worrisome trend against the FCB, who have surrendered just five total goals during their current eight-match unbeaten streak on home turf.
Recap for today: only one Match today. Big upset by Freiburg to win 1-0 over Monchengladbach. With Bayern firing on all cylinders, it is tough to see them dropping their contest against struggling Gladbach, even with Lewandowski and Müller on the sidelines. However, the absence of the two stars will likely contribute to a lower scoring affair than what we have seen in recent FCB outings.
Pick: Bayern Munich -1, -1.5 (-125), UNDER 3.5 (-120)
