World Series of Poker Releases 2020 High Roller Event Schedule


The 2020 World Series of Poker is set to feature nine high roller events, with buy-ins ranging from $25,000 to $250,000, according to a press release made by the WSOP on Wednesday, Jan. 29. A player would need $625,000 in order to participate in all nine of the events listed.

“We have something for everyone on the 2020 World Series of Poker schedule and the high rollers are no exception,” said WSOP Vice President Jack Effel. “The High Roller Series are great spectacles for the fans and a challenging series of events is sure to bring out the game’s best and those looking to take them on.”

Seven of the nine high roller events will take place at eight-handed tables. The $50,000 Poker Players Championship will be played out at six-handed tables to accommodate the mix of games, while the heads-up championship will, of course, see just two players per table.

Three of the nine high roller events will take get underway within the first 10 days of the series. The first high roller event is a $25,000 buy-in that gets underway at 3:00 p.m. local time on May 29. The $25,000 buy-in heads-up no-limit hold’em championship kicks off on May 31st, and will be capped at 64 players. The third early high roller on the schedule is a $50,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em event, which starts on June 5.

The middle of the high roller schedule will see the $25,000 buy-in pot-limit Omaha high roller kick off on June 17. The $50,000 Poker Players Championship starts on June 22, and this year features nine games in the mix with the addition of no-limit deuce-to-seven single draw lowball to the list that already included no-limit hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, limit hold’em, Omaha eight-or-better, razz, seven-card stud, seven-card stud eight-or-better and limit tripe-draw deuce-to-seven lowball. The final high roller event on the schedule in June is the highest buy-in event of the series: the brand new $250,000 no-limit hold’em super high roller. Players will begin with 1,500,000 in chips when play gets underway at noon on June 27.

The final three high rollers of the series all feature buy-ins of $50,000 or larger. The $50,000 pot-limit Omaha event will set the record as the largest buy-in PLO event in WSOP history when it begins on July 7. Just two days late, on July 9, the second $50,000 no-limit hold’em high roller of the series will get underway. The final high roller event of the summer will be the $100,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament that kicks off on July 11.

This was the sixth press release from the WSOP covering the schedule for the upcoming 2020 series. Previous announcements included the dates for the 51st annual WSOP, information on key weekend no-limit hold’em events, the schedule of the $10,000 ‘championship events’, the lower buy-in ‘value menu’ of events, and the 17 new tournaments announced for 2020.

The remaining events for this year’s series are expected to be finalized in February.
