Poker Central bring two new poker shows to home-based audience

With poker audiences remaining at home for the foreseeable future, those behind the release of poker content have two choices – down tools and wait for it all to blow over or seize the opportunity and provide the best collection of poker content the world has ever seen.

Poker Central haven’t just taken up the mantle, they’ve even made it so that fans can view the all-new footage for free for a month.

poker-central-bring-two-new-poker-shows-to-home-based-audienceIn two new shows, Poker Central are bringing back some very fond memories, with The Championship Run featuring highlights of iconic poker victories throughout the years. The first episode isn’t just a classic moment in poker history, it’s credited with being responsible for the poker boom – the Moneymaker Effect. Yes, it’s the 2003 WSOP Main Event, which was won, of course, by Chris Moneymaker.

With Jeff Platt fronting The Championship Run, the program delves into the era-defining events when Moneymaker turned the odds on their head and ripped up the rulebook to win a seven-figure score for the price of a family-size takeaway when he satellite in from an online tournament entry.

The second of the two new shows is called ‘Run It Back With Remko’, which is presented by Remko Rinkema and features an interview with a major poker star where they’ll look back on some classic poker footage, providing their own commentary.

This is golden stuff, with the first episode featuring Danie Negreanu commentating on some archive footage of players such as himself with a full head of hair and Phil Hellmuth. With the game having changed so much in the past 15 years, Negreanu’s observations on his fellow pros and the game in general fulfil something of a director’s commentary on the action, with witty insights and background knowledge fighting for space.

Rinkema does a superb job of keeping the action and commentary in perfect rhythm and while the series may have been born out of this recent Coronavirus pandemic, it’s a great idea that deserves to remain long after any vaccine has been developed and delivered.

Run it Back with Remko premiered on Thursday, March 26th and The Championship Run was released on Friday, March 27th, with both new programs continuing to be released on a weekly basis for the foreseeable.

“Poker players and fans are hungrier for content than ever before,” said Sam Simmons, President of Poker Central. “[During] a time when we are all seeking entertainment from the safety of our homes, these two series celebrate some of the most compelling moments in the game’s history coupled with present-day poker insight and analysis. Our goal is to bring the spirit of the game to our viewers at home.”

While the first episode alone of these new series shouldn’t be used to judge the overall output, early signs are two more fantastic shows have been given to the poker-watching public, and with fans able to cash in a free month’s trial of PokerGO access by using the code WATCHPARTY when they check out the action, they’d be mad not to want to watch every episode of these fun new programs.
