Will Rook and Adam Drury provide their Boxing Day football tips for the Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two .
WIN/DRAW/WIN
Southampton to beat Fulham (15:00)
Southampton were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City last weekend, but that was only their second league defeat in 12 matches.
Saints are unbeaten in their last six on the road and have won both of their matches against sides currently in the bottom three.
Third-bottom Fulham will be without their manager, who is isolating, on Boxing Day and have won just two of their last 13 matches in all competitions.
Derby to beat Preston (15:00)
Derby come into this having not played for 10 days, but are unbeaten in their last six matches.
The Rams beat Swansea 2-0 last time out and have taken 10 points in that sequence.
Preston have lost four of their last five away games in the league.
Shrewsbury to beat Wigan (15:00)
Shrewsbury have lost just one of their seven matches since Steve Cotterill took over as manager at the end of November.
The Shrews come into this having won three on the spin against three of the division’s current top four.
Second-bottom Wigan were thumped 5-0 by Rochdale in their last home game and have won two in 17 in all competitions.
Morecambe to beat Grimsby (15:00)
Grimsby were left fifth-bottom of League Two and without a manager following their 2-1 defeat at home to fellow strugglers Bradford on Tuesday.
That was the Mariners’ ninth defeat in 12 matches in all competitions, while they are currently just six points above the relegation zone.
Morecambe are currently one point clear of eighth place following a run of four victories in their last five league games.
Chelsea to beat Arsenal (17:30)
Arsenal were thumped 4-1 by Manchester City in the EFL Cup in midweek, meaning they have lost three and drawn one of their last four matches in all competitions.
The Gunners have taken only two points from their last seven league games and have lost at home to Burnley, Wolves and Aston Villa in that sequence.
Chelsea improved after back-to-back league defeats to beat West Ham 3-0 on Monday – their fifth victory in eight matches.
BTTS
Oxford v AFC Wimbledon (15:00)
Only two teams have produced more BTTS matches than AFC Wimbledon in League One this season.
Glyn Hodges’ side have scored and conceded in their last six league outings, including in 4-2 and 5-2 defeats.
Oxford have scored in 11 of their 14 home matches this season, with BTTS landing in 10 of them.
Carlisle v Bolton (15:00)
Carlisle have scored in all 12 of their home matches this season, with BTTS landing in eight of them.
Bolton have scored in all but two of their 10 away games and recently lost 6-3 to Port Vale.
If those two trends continue, this one will land.
Watford v Norwich (19:45)
Watford have scored in nine of their 10 home matches this season, with BTTS landing in six of them.
Even under new management, they can keep that run going against a Norwich side that has kept one clean sheet in nine on the road.
The Canaries’ last four away games have finished 2-3, 3-1, 2-1 and 2-1.
MYTHBUSTER
Sheffield United to win or draw v Everton & under 4.5 goals (20:00)
Sheffield United are a better side than two points from 14 matches suggests and are worth a punt to keep Everton at bay on Boxing Day.
The Blades haven’t lost by more than one goal at Bramall Lane since the opening weekend of the season, and secured a spirited point at Brighton last time out.
Everton are in decent nick themselves, but have an EFL Cup quarter-final three days before this one and have already dropped points at Southampton, Newcastle and Burnley this season.
ANYTIME GOALSCORER
Chuks Aneke (Charlton) to score v Plymouth (15:00)
Aneke has scored his sixth and seventh goals of the season off the bench in Charlton’s last two matches, so will surely be handed a start here.
The 27-year-old ranks clearly top for shots per game in Charlton’s squad.
Plymouth rank third-bottom for shots conceded per league away game this season, and are without a clean sheet on the road in the league.
