When comparing the Game 1 preview to the Game 2 Canadiens vs Flyers odds, you’ll notice something interesting. The moneyline is exactly the same, but half a goal has been shaved off the total. On Friday, bettors will want to shift from the Under to a wager on the favorites and here’s why.

Voracek Returns and Makes Immediate Impact
The Flyers ran the table in the round robin and did so without impact forward Jakub Voracek. He made his return in Game 1 and got on the board right away. He scored the first of the Flyers’ two goals, helping them to an important Game 1 win.
Philadelphia has forward depth that Montreal simply cannot match (few teams can) and Voracek is a key part of that. Seeing him back on the ice, in particular on the power play, reinforced the point that the Flyers are clearly the better team.

Voracek recorded 56 points in 69 regular season games which was third-best on the team. For context, that was three more points than Claude Giroux, who is widely considered the team’s most dangerous forward. All of this is to say, with another weapon in his arsenal, head coach Alain Vigneault should have more than enough to keep racking up wins in this series.
Carter Hart Wins Round 1 vs Carey Price
Carey Price was spectacular in Game 1, making one of the best saves you’ll ever see to keep the game close. The problem is, even on a night when he had his best, he still lost. Worse yet, he was outplayed by the goalie at the other end of the ice.

Carter Hart stopped 27 of 28 shots, improving his post-season save percentage to an unreal .966%. I believed this to be a matchup between Canada’s goalie and his heir apparent, but it seems like the passing of the torch is much closer than some expected.
Nothing is going to stop Price from making acrobatic saves and keeping the Canadiens in games, but if Hart keeps playing to his potential, Montreal’s one advantage will be neutralized.
Expect Flyers to Continue Win Streak
The depth and poise of Philadelphia certainly seems to be too much for Montreal to handle. The Flyers had 18 more points than the Canadiens in the abbreviated regular season and the talent gap will certainly be a big factor. Considering the greatness of Price I can’t say I’m comfortable taking the puck line in this one but I do like Philly to get another win. Take the moneyline and if you’re feeling aggressive, consider a prop bet on this one finishing in overtime.
