The Baltimore Ravens made franchise history while winning the AFC North title in 2019. Can they do it again in 2020?
BetOnline certainly thinks that this will be the case.
The sportsbook established the Ravens as overwhelming -275 favorites to repeat as AFC North champions. Baltimore also won the division title in 2018.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns are the co-second-favorites at +475. BetOnline puts the perennially dismal Cincinnati Bengals at +2800. Those are the longest odds the sportsbook is offering on any NFL team.
2020 AFC North Division Title Odds
Team | Odds at BetOnline |
---|---|
Baltimore Ravens | -275 |
Cleveland Browns | +475 |
Pittsburgh Steelers | +475 |
Cincinnati Bengals | +2800 |
Odds taken Mar. 3.
This is the second time in franchise history that the Ravens have captured back-to-back AFC North titles. But they’ve never won three in a row.
Ravens-Chiefs Parallels
In 2018, the Kansas City Chiefs finished with the AFC’s best record. But Kansas City came up short of going to the Super Bowl. In 2019, the Chiefs won Super Bowl 54.
Last season, the Ravens were the AFC’s best team, finishing 14-2. Baltimore entered the NFL postseason riding a 12-game winning streak. Then they did a pratfall, losing their first playoff game to the Tennessee Titans.

Will the Ravens follow Kansas City’s lead and go all the way to a Super Bowl title in 2020?
There are other parallels. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was the 2018 NFL MVP. Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was the 2019 NFL MVP. Last season was the second for Mahomes as the Chiefs’ starting QB. Next season will be the second full season for Jackson as the Ravens’ starting QB.
Browns Need To Grow Up Fast
A year ago, the Cleveland Browns were the darlings of the NFL offseason. The emergence of QB Baker Mayfield, combined with the additions of wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr and Jarvis Landry turned the Browns into a sexy Super Bowl pick.
Cleveland opened as the +125 chalk to win the 2019 AFC North title in the NFL divisional odds. The Ravens were the third-favorite at +275, also behind the Steelers (+250).
An important focus for the #Browns heading into 2020: QB Baker Mayfield’s fitness and body makeup. From what I understand, he put on some weight last year to bulk up and lost some quickness. His plan is to be slimmer & faster this year, with an emphasis on being in better shape.

Then the regular season kicked off and the Browns turned into a pumpkin.
Cleveland will try yet another new head coach this season. Kevin Stefanski is the eighth coach to lead the Browns in the past decade. If he can’t get the Browns to play a more mature game, it won’t matter.
Steelers A Facade
Passionate fanbase. Wonderful history. The Steelers have it all going for them.
Or should that be, had it all going for them?
Sure Ben Roethlisberger will be healthy again in 2020. He’ll also be 38, and 15 years removed from his first Super Bowl win.
Mason Rudolph recently resumed throwing footballs coming off surgery for a fractured AC joint. He’s expected to be a full go for offseason work, and could get significant reps as Ben Roethlisberger recovers from elbow surgery.

Two years in a row, the Steelers were left with a playoff spot completely in their control. Both years, Pittsburgh crapped all over that opportunity.
These aren’t the Steelers of old. In fact, with Roethlisberger under center, they look more like old Steelers.
AFC North Belongs To Ravens
BetOnline is offering the Ravens better odds to win their division than the New England Patriots (-250), and the Patriots have owned the AFC East since Abraham Lincoln was President.
Baltimore was second in the NFL in total offense (407.6 yards per game) and #1 in scoring offense (33.2 points per game).

The Ravens were also #4 in total defense (300.6 ypg).
They aren’t going to forget how to play football because of one playoff loss.
