Las Vegas Mega Resort, Venetian, Shares Reopening Health Safety Plans

The Venetian in Las Vegas, home to one of the top poker rooms in the world, is gearing up to reopen. When that will happen is anyone’s guess at this point. But when Gov. Stephen Sisolak gives the Sin City mega resort the green light, the casino will implement some new precautionary measures to ensure guest and employee safety.

Last week, Wynn Resorts, another Las Vegas Strip property, announced its reopening safety measures. Disinfecting chairs, tables, and casino chips, and forcing guests to submit to a body temperature screening were among the many planned precautionary measures.

Wynn’s next-door neighbor, Venetian, will follow some of the same guidelines. Unlike Wynn’s plan, however, the Sheldon Adelson-owned property didn’t lay out specific safety guidelines for its poker room. But employees and patrons in each section of the property — including the hotel — must adhere to certain procedures. Doing so, the casino hopes, will prevent the spread of coronavirus and keep everyone safe.

Venetian Wants to Take Your Temperature

If you want to enter the Venetian-Palazzo casino upon reopening, you’ll need to pass a thermal test. Upon entrance, each individual will pass a thermal camera that will take your temperature on the spot. Those with temperatures that hit 100.4 degrees or above won’t be permitted to enter the facility.

A fever is one of the main symptoms of coronavirus. Venetian is attempting to minimize the number of infected guests who enter the casino. The non-invasive temperature checks also include employees. If an employee has a fever, they will be sent home.

Additional Safety Procedures

In the Venetian reopening health guideline document, the casino lays out details on how it will keep patrons who are allowed to enter the property safe. That includes personal face masks for hotel guests and having 25 Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on hand.

Additionally, the casino encourages all casino guests to bring and wear their own face masks. But face masks that cover the entire face are prohibited.

Guests will be required to practice social distancing while inside the hotel and casino. That means everyone, including team members, must remain six feet apart at all times, including while playing slots or eating in the restaurants. The Las Vegas Strip resort is arranging slot machines to ensure guests can safely social distance. Pool seating will also be arranged accordingly.

Venetian staff will use disinfectant cleaning products to protect guests. Chips, chairs, and tables will all be sanitized regularly.
