Five SCOOP titles in a year for Connor Drinan

A new SCOOP record is set before the extended schedule even began in the biggest series in online poker history.

While all eyes were on the Main Event finales last night one player who was quietly earning the respect of his peers was American pro Connor Drinan.

He took down the $10,300 PLO Main Event for $322,264 and in doing so broke the record for most SCOOP titles in a single year.

He has taken down five events this year so far, all in non-hold’em disciplines.

Event Runners Prize
SCOOP-34-H: $530 PLO8 378 $34,420
SCOOP-40-H: $5,200 PLO 150 $152,011
SCOOP-45-M: $215 NLO8 1,052 $14,584
SCOOP-56-H: $1,050 HORSE 139 $30,232
SCOOP-75-H: $10,300 PLO Main Event 159 $322,264

This beats the previous record held by Shaun Deeb and despite the fact that this year SCOOP has been extended, Drinan won them before the extension and in his own words he started a week late.

It’s unfortunate for Drinan that he is unable to take this mixed game run of form into the WSOP (SCOOP has always been something of a World Series warm-up, especially for mixed game specialists) but with the series now running until (at least) the end of the month, he has plenty of time to try and extend his own record.

In case you are wondering where you heard his name before, he was previously well known for taking this incredible bad beat in a $1 million buy-in event like a champ
